TREY ANASTASIO BAND FALL TOUR CONTINUES
WITH TWO SOLD-OUT SHOWS AT LAS VEGAS’ BROOKLYN BOWL

APPEARING ON CONAN NOVEMBER 2

“On his 10th solo album, Anastasio undertakes sustained and deliberate exploration of the sunny, vibrant feeling that drove so much early-’70s pop and rock – and emerges with sunny, vibrant music that’s steeped in that era, but defiantly not a throwback…it shows a musician who’s in the midst of some rapid evolution; who’s learned to put his prodigious technique on the back burner in order to shine light on the essence and spirit of a composition.”

(New York, NY) Phish frontman Trey Anastasio’s long-awaited new album, Paper Wheels, is now available to stream in its entirety via NPR’s First Listen. The album is the singer/musician/composer’s first new solo offering in three years and it arrives October 30th via Rubber Jungle/ATO Records. Earlier in the month, Rolling Stone premiered Paper Wheels’ first video, “Lever Boy.” The video is an animated journey through the elaborate special vinyl package created by Varnish Studio. George A. Loucas directed the clip, with the help of lead animator Andrew Crossland.
PAPER WHEELS will be offered as a deluxe limited edition that will include 180 gram 45 RPM 2x LP splatter vinyl and a die cut gatefold package with six unique sleeves. Only 4,000 of these special packages will be manufactured. A preorder is now available at Anastasio’s official web store treyanastasio.shop.musictoday.com.
Produced by Anastasio and longtime collaborator Bryce Goggin, PAPER WHEELS was recorded last year at The Barn, the Phish founding guitarist’s Vermont farmhouse-turned-rehearsal space/recording studio. Anastasio and the members of Trey Anastasio Band (TAB) developed the material on stage while touring and at soundcheck on the tour leading up to the sessions, allowing them to track the album in just under a week. Taking a cue from the energetic immediacy of classic Stax Studio recording sessions, TAB worked fast and loose, playing together live in The Barn and wrapping up tracks after one or two takes. Written and co-written by Anastasio alongside frequent lyric partners Tom Marshall and Steve “The Dude of Life” Pollak, songs like the funk-driven “Bounce” and the elegiac “Invisible Knife” (written solely by Anastasio) are among the legendarily diverse artist’s most infectious and inventive, alive with creative vigor, robust musicianship, and true soul power (see the complete tracklisting below).
PAPER WHEELS features the classic TAB line up of drummer Russ Lawton, bassist Tony Markellis, and keyboardist Ray Paczkowski, augmented by a full horn section (including trombonist/vocalist Natalie Cressman, multi-instrumentalist James Casey, and longtime TAB trumpeter/vocalist Jennifer Hartswick). The album was mixed by 8x GRAMMY® Award-winning sound engineer Elliot Scheiner (Van Morrison, Steely Dan, Derek & The Dominos)
Having just performed two highly acclaimed sold-out shows at Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre, Trey Anastasio Band will continue its fall tour in support of the new album with two sold-out shows at Las Vegas NV’s Brooklyn Bowl over Halloween weekend. The complete itinerary is below. Most of the shows are sold out, though some have tickets still available. The band will also be appearing on Conan November 2nd.
