New Talent Announced for DeVotchKa with the Colorado Symphony Concert on July 23 at Red Rocks Amphitheatre

July 14, 2015 – The Colorado Symphony and DeVotchKa are returning to collaborate at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Thursday, July 23 and are now proud to announce that artists Kishi Bashi and Ariel Pink will also be joining the concert. Both of these artists will perform with a string section from the Colorado Symphony before DeVotchKa takes the stage to perform with the entire Colorado Symphony. All of these elements will add to what is promising to be a stunning musical and visual spectacle.

Kishi Bashi is the project and stage name of musician and singer Kaoru Ishibashi (K. IshiBashi). Kishi Bashi’s main show is to perform live solo violin, mixed with singing, beat-boxing, and other sounds recorded by Ishibashi and then looped together to make the full performance. Kishi Bashi’s stunning violin abilities and transformative style will make for an extraordinary pairing to the sounds of the Colorado Symphony.

Ariel Pink is a singer-songwriter from Los Angeles, recording music extremely eclectic and beyond any one genre. Pink adds unique sounds and inspirations not often found in popular music. Formerly the lead member of the band called Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, Pink released his debut standalone album “Pom Pom” in 2014. His distinctive sound and style, mixed with the music of the Colorado Symphony, is sure to make for a unique concert experience.

The creative partnership between DeVotchKa and the Colorado Symphony, described by Westword as “total bliss,” is now a Colorado tradition. Conducted by Scott O’Neil, this concert marks the fifth time DeVotchKa and the Colorado Symphony will share a stage. Last year’s concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre was at full capacity.

“The feeling of performing with 75 people on stage is indescribable, and the fact that we get to do it for a fifth time this summer has got us inspired to pull out all the stops.” says Nick Urata, DeVotchKa’s lead singer, guitarist and songwriter. With these two added artists, the concert is preparing to be even better than in years past.
