NAFA To Host Webinar On Cybersecurity In October
(PRINCETON, NJ – SEPTEMBER 28, 2016) – No longer just a subject of the science fiction genre, fears regarding cybersecurity and motor vehicles are a present reality demanding attention, concern, and an educated response. On October 5, NAFA Fleet Management Association (NAFA) will host a webinar on the current and future aspects of cybersecurity that affect all drivers.
The webinar, “Fleet Management and the Connected Vehicle,” takes place on Wednesday, October 5 at 10:30 am.
“Cars and trucks today are more like ‘computers on wheels,’ as they rely more and more on technology for performance and convenience than ever before,” said NAFA Chief Executive Officer Phillip E. Russo, CAE. “For fleet professionals, the rapid growth of vehicle connectivity presents challenges, as well as opportunities. For all drivers, the way North American roadways — and indeed, global roadways — function will be drastically different sooner than anyone imagines. This is a conversation that NAFA has a duty to be part of.”
Speakers for this webinar will be:
- Patrick O’Connor – President of Kent & O’Connor; NAFA’s Legislative Counsel in Washington D.C.
- Jeff Jeter – Fleet Manager, Chesterfield County; NAFA Vice President
- Oleg Cytowicz – Global Fleet Lead Senior Analyst NA Fleet Ops, Unilever; NAFA’s Board of Delegates Vice Chair
- Robert Martinez – Deputy Commissioner, NYPD; NAFA’s U.S. Government Representative
Attendees of the webinar “Fleet Management and the Connected Vehicle” will learn about the distinction between security concerns and privacy issues, the contents of the NHTSA/FBI March 2016 bulletin, the need for fleet access to OBD-II Port access, how NAFA is contributing to the cybersecurity debate, and much more. Attendees can register for this free webinar at: www.nafa.org/nafa-webinars
“NAFA is a proactive organization that takes on the major challenges from the start, and the issue of cybersecurity is a perfect example,” concluded Russo. “It is our hope that everyone participates in this webinar, is informed, and will spread this knowledge and help make vehicles safer and more secure.”
