Jodi Hauptman Promoted to Senior Curator, Department of Drawings and Prints

Jodi Hauptman joined The Museum of Modern Art as Associate Curator in 2002, and was promoted to Curator in 2008. At MoMA, she has organized critically acclaimed exhibitions such as Georges Seurat: The Drawings (2007-8), Beyond the Visible: The Art of Odilon Redon (2005-6), andDrawing from the Modern, 1880–1945 (2004-5), the first installment in a three-part exhibition in MoMA’s Drawings Galleries that marked the opening of the renovated and expanded Museum.  She also organized Master Drawings from The Museum of Modern Art: Cézanne to Pollock (2006), MoMA’s first exhibition in China, at the Shanghai Museum. Ms. Hauptman is currently organizing the major exhibition Henri Matisse: The Cut-Outs, with Karl Buchberg, Senior Conservator and Samantha Friedman, Assistant Curator at MoMA, which opens at Tate Modern in April, and at MoMA in October.

Ms. Hauptman is the author of Joseph Cornell: Stargazing in the Cinema (Yale University Press, 1999), winner of the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Charles Eldredge Prize for Distinguished Scholarship in American Art.  She has contributed numerous essays to exhibition catalogues and scholarly journals, has lectured widely, and participated in panel discussions and academic symposia.  She has taught at Princeton University, Yale University, and the University of Delaware. She received her A.B. from Princeton University and her M.A. and Ph.D. from Yale University.
