Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium Unveils New Online Ticketing and Website

Visitors online and in person now have new ways to connect with Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium, thanks to a redesigned website (mote.org) that offers online ticketing and easier access to information about the organization’s many research programs, initiatives and the hands-on experiences offered at Mote.

The website utilizes video and social media to vividly tell Mote’s story and to solidify Mote’s position as a world-class research center. The website is responsive, adaptable and user-friendly on all platforms.  It also offers online ticketing as an option for our Aquarium visitors.

Founded in 1955, Mote Marine Laboratory is an independent, nonprofit 501(c)3 research organization dedicated to world-class research relevant to the conservation and sustainable use of our marine habitats and natural resources.

The new website brings our research to the forefront with a spotlight on each of the applied research programs and an interface that allows quick and easy donations. Our 24 research programs include studies of human cancer using marine models, the effects of man-made and natural toxins on humans and on the environment, the health of wild fisheries, developing sustainable and successful fish restocking techniques and food production technologies and the development of ocean technology to help us better understand the health of the environment. Mote research programs also focus on understanding the population dynamics of manatees, dolphins, sea turtles, sharks and coral reefs and on conservation and restoration efforts related to these species and ecosystems.

Mote’s mission also includes public outreach and dedicated education programs designed to develop and promote ocean literacy in all ages. Our premier informal science education center is The Aquarium at Mote, which showcases the cutting-edge research undertaken by Lab’s staff members.

“As one of the region’s most popular destinations for visitors, we wanted to make sure that guests who were planning to come to The Aquarium in person had access to purchase tickets in advance of their trip no matter what platform they were using,” said Stacy Alexander, Assistant Vice President for Community Relations and Communications. “And, as an organization whose research programs are undertaken locally, nationally and internationally, we wanted to make sure that information about our programs were accessible to all — no matter where they were in the world.”

The new site was developed by Mote in partnership with Paradise Advertising, Digital and Entertainment and web developer Big Sea Design Development. Mote has partnered with Paradise — Florida’s leading tourism and hospitality agency — for brand elevation and marketing services.

“Mote and its important mission is a shared passion for us here at Paradise and for our partners at Big Sea,” said Paradise CEO Cedar Hames. “So working together to help Mote showcase all that it does — and all the ways the public can interact with them — was a really exciting project for us. We look forward to continuing to train a spotlight on the organization and to helping Mote develop new tools that will allow it to showcase all that it does.”

Andrea Graham, Principal of Big Sea Design Development, said the complexity of Mote made for a fun and challenging project. “Mote is a complex, layered organization with a lot going on — all coming from a place of passion and dedication to the amazing research they do,” she said. “We’re excited to share this innovative site, rich with features and a strong, cohesive communication strategy, and to help share the faceted Mote story with all of the site’s visitors.”
