“This highlight of Moz’s new album.. sprightly – almost funky” Q
“An invitation to us to skip the daily commute and indulge ourselves horizontally” The Times
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE New York, NY (October 17, 2017) – Morrissey has revealed the video for “Spent The Day In Bed,” the first single taken from the upcoming album Low in High School.
Opening with a tongue-in-cheek scene, long-time fan Joey Barton is seen pushing a deadpan Morrissey around an old school social club in a wheelchair. The video also features the iconic performance artist David Hoyle.
“Spent The Day In Bed” was filmed at the 142 year-old Peckham Liberal Club and directed by prominent music video director Sophie Muller who has previously worked with Beyoncé, Kings Of Leon, Blur, The Killers and Annie Lennox. It’s the first time she has worked with Morrissey.
The track sees Morrissey slinging out advice to take on the media in classic fashion and recommending to “Stop watching the news because the news contrives to frighten you,” suggesting swapping the daily grind commute for a day lying in bed instead. It’s clear that in 2017, in a world of fake news and scaremongering politics, that Morrissey’s voice and biting honesty is needed more than ever.
Morrissey has also today announced two unique pop-up shops to celebrate the release of Low in High School.
Giving fans the chance to “Spend The Day In Camden,” the first shop will be open in Camden, London on Friday, November 17 – Sunday, November 19. There will also be a second shop on Melrose Ave, Los Angeles.
London will be at Provender Building, Camden Market, NW1 8AH and will open at 8AM on Friday, the 17th. Los Angeles will be at 8250 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90048.
There will be exclusive media and merchandise available at both stores. More details to follow…

Low in High School will be Morrissey’s first studio album since 2014 and his debut for BMG. The album will see BMG partnering with Morrissey on the new release and on the launch of his new label, Etienne Records. Low in High School was recorded at La Fabrique Studios in France and in Rome at Ennio Morricone’s Forum Studios. The record is produced by Joe Chiccarelli (who has worked with Frank Zappa, The Strokes, Beck and The White Stripes to name a few).
Rising to prominence as frontman of The Smiths, Morrissey went on to forge an even more successful career as a solo artist, with all ten of his solo efforts landing in the Top 10 on the UK album charts, including 3 entries at the #1 position. Releasing his debut solo album Viva Hate back in 1988, he has since released a number of critically acclaimed follow-ups including Kill Uncle and Your Arsenal, and hugely successful comeback album You Are the Quarry after a five year hiatus in 2004.
In 2013, Morrissey published his record-breaking autobiography on Penguin Classics, immediately topping the best-seller list with literary reviewers hailing it a masterpiece in writing and prose.
