-Michael Franti, “We Are All Earthlings”

April 22, 2016 – MICHAEL FRANTI & SPEARHEAD, in celebration of Earth Day, releases new song “We Are All Earthlings,” from their upcoming album SOULROCKER out on June 3rd.

“I believe in making music for one reason, which is, I care about people and the planet. ‘We Are All Earthlings’ is a song that honors the beauty and importance of every single living thing on this Earth; a reminder that we are ALL Earthlings and we are in this together,” states Franti.

Listen to the song here.

Fans can watch a special message from Franti via the Earth Day Network plus receive an instant download of the song by pre-ordering the album on iTunes, and Amazon.

Tim McHugh with the Earth Day Network commented, “Earth Day is the single largest worldwide environmental event each year. And each year something special happens to set it apart and move our cause just a little bit further down the road. This year we are glad to be able to partner with Michael Franti and his incredible new song ‘We Are All Earthlings.’ It will help us reach out and communicate to new groups of people and make our common concern for the earth just that much more vital and powerful.

Recently, Franti released a mini-documentary video titled “Why I Make Music” which explores his deep compassion for humanity and how music heals, connects and brings people together for positive change. Click here to watch.

In creating the new album SOULROCKER–co-produced with Jamaican producers Stephen “Di Genius” McGregor (son of reggae luminary Freddie McGregor) and Dwayne “Supa Dups” Chin Quee (known for his work with artists like Bruno Mars and John Legend)–MICHAEL FRANTI & SPEARHEAD have introduced a new sensibility to their potent hybrid of hip-hop, rock, folk, and reggae: a gracefully arranged take on electronic music that more than fulfills the band’s mission of making impassioned music you can dance to. Along with harnessing the Bay Area-based band’s dynamic energy for a more powerful impact than ever before, SOULROCKER again shows Franti‘s singular ability to channel frustration into music that’s both thought-provoking and triumphantly hopeful.

SOULROCKER will be released on June 3rd via Fantasy Records and features the new single “Crazy For You”.

ABOUT MICHAEL FRANTI & SPEARHEAD:

Formed in 1994, Spearhead was born as the latest in a series of musical projects that also included Franti‘s industrial/hardcore act the Beatnigs and his groundbreaking hip-hop duo Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy. The band released their debut album in September 1994, and over the next two decades gained a massive following across the globe, bolstered by the smash success of “Say Hey (I Love You”) (a 2009 single that hit #18 on the Billboard Hot 100 and appeared on Spearhead’s sixth studio album All Rebel Rockers). Through the years, Franti has also dedicated himself to activism and filmmaking, with his 2005 documentary I Know I’m Not Alone chronicling his journey to Iraq, Palestine, and Israel and offering a seldom-seen look at war’s toll on everyday people.
