METS RECALL BRANDON NIMMO / OPTION MICHAEL CONFORTO

 

FLUSHING, N.Y., June 25, 2016 – The New York Mets today announced that outfielder Brandon Nimmo was recalled from Las Vegas (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League and optioned outfielder Michael Conforto to Las Vegas. Nimmo will wear #9 and will be available for tonight’s game at Atlanta.

 

Nimmo, 23, was hitting .328 (82-250) with 16 doubles, seven triples, five home runs, 37 RBI, 41 runs scored and a .409 on-base percentage in 63 games for Las Vegas this year.

 

The 6-3, 206-pounder was tied for eighth in the Pacific Coast League with his .328 batting average, tied for first with seven triples and sixth with a .409 on-base percentage.

 

He was hitting .388 (33-85) with four doubles, three triples, three homers, 16 RBI and a .459 on-base percentage in 21 games in June. Nimmo has at least one hit in 19 of 20 games this month with an at-bat.

 

Nimmo was the Mets first-round pick (13th overall) in the 2011 First-Year Player Draft out of Cheyenne East High School (WY). He will become the 16th major leaguer born in Wyoming to appear in the majors. Among the notable Wyoming-born players are John Buck, Tom Browning, Mike Devereaux, Mike Lansing and Dick Ellsworth.

 

Nimmo has hit .276 (495-1,792) with 89 doubles, 28 triples, 30 homers, 198 RBI, 294 runs and a .385 on-base percentage in 483 minor league games since 2011.

 

Conforto was hitting .222 (48-216) with 10 home runs and 30 RBI in 65 games for the Mets.
