Monday, August 24, 2015 // Toronto, ON — Massey Hall is pleased to announce the latest presentation in the third season of the Live at Massey Hall concert and film series: a double-bill featuring sets from Tanya Tagaq and Owen Pallett on Tuesday, December 1, 2015. The concert, presented in association with Polaris Music Prize, features the first and latest recipients, in celebration of the 10thanniversary of the prestigious award. “Massey Hall is recognized by artists and audiences the world over as a hallowed cathedral of music,” says Steve Jordan, Founder and Executive Director of Polaris Music Prize. “We’re honoured to be involved in this presentation and likewise humbled that Tanya and Owen have chosen to represent the excellence and artistic freedom of Polaris and its nominees.”

Tanya Tagaq incorporates traditional Inuit throat singing with electronica, industrial and metal influences. She’s worked with artists as varied as Bjork, Kronos Quartet, Mike Patton and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and her most recent album, Animism, was awarded the 2014 Polaris Music Prize. Oscar-nominated violinist Owen Pallett, won the first Polaris Music Prize in 2006 for He Poos Clouds, which was recorded under the moniker Final Fantasy. Captivating audiences with little more than a violin and a loop pedal, Pallett’s music is created with the rigor of a classicist, but emerges as something far beyond classical music.
