MAJOR COMPETITION FOR FINE ARTS, PHOTOGRAPHY, FASHION, GRAPHIC ARTS ANNOUNCED BY ART WALK AMERICA

Online Entries Accepted Through June 23rd in Eight Categories at ArtWalksAmerica on Facebook; Winners to Be Announced at Time of Launch of Art Walk America App Ahead of 4th of July.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – June 2, 2016 – Online submissions in eight categories will be accepted on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/ArtWalksAmerica/ or http://woobox.com/yntamo) today through June 23, 2016 as part of the 2016 Art Walk America (AWA) Contest. Winners will be announced on June 28th at the time of the launch of the Art Walk America app, which is designed to meet the needs and enrich the experiences of the 25 million Americans who attend thousands of art walks, gallery openings, and other art events every year. AWA is a product of its parent company, MOV!

The 2016 Art Walk America Contest will accept one or more submissions from artists aged 13 and older in the following categories: oil painting; watercolor painting; acrylic painting; mixed media; sculpture; photography; fashion design; and graphic design. Awards will be made as follows: grand prize winner for the entire contest; a winner in each of the eight categories; and five honorable mentions per category. Submissions may be made on the contest Facebook as well as by using the #ArtwalkAmerica hashtag at Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest.

There is no cost to compete in the 2016 AWA Contest. Prizes will be as follows: featured status at an art walk or gallery for the grand prize winner; one-month featured status on the AWA Web site for the eight category winners; and a free copy of the paid-version of the America Art Walk app for the honorable mentions. Live voting will take place on the 2016 AWA Contest Facebook site by artists who submit their work as well as members of the general public.

Art Walk America is the brainchild of MOV! CEO and Art Walk America Creative Director Gloria J. Fredricks, who is an oil painter, sculptor and interior designer. She said: “Every art walk in America is filled with outstanding artists who never get the attention or boost they need. Art Walk America is dedicated both to elevating awareness of art walks and also the artists who participate in them. Our goal with the 2016 Art Walk America Contest is to cast a spotlight on thousands of artists whose work deserves to be shared with a much broader public than it is today. We encourage everyone who has work to show to participate in our Contest!”

The Art Walk America Contest is the first major foray of MOV! ahead of the launch of the Art Walk America app. The initial version of the AWA app will feature 8-10 major cities across the United States, with a wider focus planned in stages throughout the third and fourth quarters of 2016.

The AWA app is a user-friendly way to search, find and make the most of art-related events, including art walks, gallery showings, and other culinary, fine arts, music, and fashion events. Event organizers will be able to self-submit content about their events and the featured galleries and artists. Additional content will be curated by AWA, sponsors, event organizers, and AWA users.

The ad-supported Web site and free app will feature events searchable by city and personal location, as well as dates, times, maps, gallery information, and other content. The $1.99 version will be ad free and offer such enhanced features as live, step-by-step maps, a “concierge service” (restaurants, B&Bs, parking), special gallery tours, talks by artists, access to special events, and other premium features.
