Larkin Poe has been tapped to support Elvis Costello on his upcoming U.S. tour. In addition to opening, Larkin Poe’s Rebecca and Megan Lovell will also be backing the iconic artist, as they have done on previous outings with Costello. The latest run kicks off on March 1 at the Boulder Theater in Boulder, CO. See below for itinerary. After the U.S. dates with Costello, Larkin Poe will head to Europe for a headline tour.

“We first met Elvis Costello by a stroke of luck at the world renowned festival, Merlefest, in 2010 and he’s been a huge supporter ever since. Over the past five years, we’ve been honored to go on the road with him – from the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN, to the storied Circus Krone in Munich, Germany,” says lead singer/guitarist Rebecca Lovell, who also plays mandolin and violin.

“Making music and harmonizing onstage with a living legend is simultaneously one of the scariest, most exhilarating, and most intuitive things we’ve ever done as sisters – it has strengthened our own musical bond. Elvis Costello is one of the most inexhaustible artists we’ve ever encountered – he pulls the stops out every night. Our respect for him as an artist and as a person is without bounds!” adds her sister, Megan Lovell, who plays lapsteel and dobro and also sings.

M Music & Musicians magazine features Larkin Poe as a “Who’s Next” artist in its current issue, observing, “As descendants of Edgar Allan Poe, sister duo Larkin Poe has extended a long line of talented yet tempestuous artists.” The Observer hailed Larkin Poe as the “best discovery” at Glastonbury 2014 and the Atlanta Journal Constitution marveled at how the band “mesmerized” the crowd at Kristian Bush’s 2014 post-Thanksgiving gathering at Eddie’s Attic. Guitar World’s Acoustic Nation noted, “I went to see a band play the other day…[and] hoo-yeah, this band kicked ass around the corner and back. It was the sister-lead Larkin Poe.”

The Huffington Post put Kin (RH Music), Larkin Poe’s full-length debut album, on its list of the 10 best albums of 2014, noting, “these gals like their gritty Southern heritage with a cosmopolitan twist.” American Songwriter praised Kin as a “collection of hook-laden roots rock that sounds something like fellow sister band Haim taking a Louisiana vacation.” Creative Loafing Atlanta observed, “Larkin Poe takes control of their destiny and lays a sonic smackdown on an unsuspecting public…deeply satisfying and incredibly impressive.”

Produced by Chris Seefried (Fitz and the Tantrums, Lana Del Rey) and Damien Lewis (Rihanna, Rita Ora), Kin entered SoundScan’s Alternative New Artist Albums chart at No. 8 and Billboard’s Heatseekers Album chart at No. 24. The video for the lead single, “Don’t,” recently premiered on AmericanSongwriter.com and can be seen HERE. Entertainment Weekly said, “‘Don’t,’ pulls from rock’s earliest days, mixing it with a stomping glam rock beat and a country-inflected pop melody.”

Other Larkin Poe admirers include Conor Oberst, who asked the Lovell sisters to join Dawes in backing him live in concert and on “Late Show with David Letterman” last summer, and Russell Crowe. After tweeting out several Larkin Poe video clips, the Academy award winning actor suggested that Larkin Poe cover Jim Croce’s “Walkin’ Back To Georgia,” and the band gladly obliged. You can view the resulting performance video HERE.
