ILANA GLAZER AND ABBI JACOBSON TO HOST 25TH ANNUAL IFP GOTHAM AWARDS CEREMONY

New York, NY (November 3, 2015) – The Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP), the nation’s premier member organization of independent storytellers, announced today that Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson – the comedic duo and creative team behind Comedy Central’s critically-acclaimed Broad City – will host the 25th Annual IFP Gotham Independent Film Awards. The announcement comes on the heels of the nominee announcement for the Breakthrough Series – Long Form and Short Form categories, which will acknowledge television and episodic series for the first time at the Awards.

“We’re excited to include Ilana and Abbi in the 25th anniversary Gotham Awards celebrations,” said Joana Vicente, Executive Director of IFP and the Made in NY Media Center by IFP. “As huge fans of Broad City, we can’t wait to ring in 25 years of the Gothams with these funny ladies at the helm, and know their local flavor will be a unique addition to this year’s show.”

The announcement comes as Glazer and Jacobson are in post-production on the third season of Broad City, which will premiere on Comedy Central in February. Now veterans of the New York comedy scene, Glazer and Jacobson have gone on to conquer the entertainment industry at large with their unabashed style of humor and razor-sharp wit. They will join a list of comedians and indie stalwarts who’ve previously hosted the Gotham Awards, including Jon Stewart, Mike Birbiglia, Uma Thurman, Oliver Platt and Edie Falco, Stanley Tucci and Patricia Clarkson, Michael Ian Black, and David Cross.

“We couldn’t be more excited about hosting the Gotham Awards and are humbled to be invited by IFP,” said Glazer and Jacobson simultaneously.

Jacobson is an actor, writer and artist based in New York City. Along with Glazer she is a co-creator, writer and star of Broad City, Comedy Central’s cult hit, entering it’s third season in 2016. Jacobson is a graduate from the Maryland Institute College of Art and has trained at Upright Citizens Brigade NY, The Atlantic Acting Conservatory and The Magnet Theater. Her solo show, “Welcome to Camp” ran at Upright Citizens Brigade Theater NY and LA in 2011. Jacobson is also an AolArtist and has two coloring books out with Chronicle Books, Color This Book: New York City and Color This Book: San Francisco. Coming up, Abbi will be seen in the Universal feature film Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, releasing in the Spring of 2016.

Glazer is a Critics Choice Award nominated actress, comedian and writer based in New York City. Along with Jacobson, she was a creator, co-writer, and star of the original ECNY’s (Emerging Comic New York) nominated web series “Broad City.” Glazer also received an individual nomination for her stand-up as well as “High School Talent Show”, a live show she co- created with her brother Eliot Glazer. Glazer has also received a Critics Choice Television Award nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her work on Comedy Central’s Broad City in 2014. Glazer has been a writer and actress in various indie projects, and is regularly featured in video content for ESPN, Asylum, VH1, and MTV. Glazer is a graduate of New York University, has trained at Upright Citizens Brigade NY and is originally from Long Island. Ilana will next be seen in the Sony feature film, The Night Before with Seth Rogen, Michael Shannon and Lizzy Caplan, which is set to release on November 20, 2015.
