ICE THEATRE OF NEW YORK PRESENTS
SPRING UNPLUGGED PERFORMANCE
AND SKATING PARTY

New York, NY (May 3, 2017): Ice Theatre of New York (ITNY) will conclude its 2016/2017 season with the Spring “Unplugged” Performance and Skating Party on June 8, 2016 at Chelsea Piers, Sky Rink

ITNY will use this occasion to honor US National Champion and Skating Club of New York member, Adam Rippon. Adam was recently profiled on the Today Show and is one of the most outstanding artistic skaters today. He will be presented with the Will Sears Award, which is given to a skater who demonstrates exceptional daring and persistence in pursuit of his passion.

Come see the Ice Theatre of New York’s professional ensemble perform ice-breaking choreography, danced in natural light. Join us for this fresh and vigorous show, focusing purely on the art of dancing on the ice.

In addition to Adam’s skating, the performance will include a preview of two new works by ITNY choreographers:

  • “11h11” by Line Haddad, an ensemble piece for eight ice dancers exploring our relationship with time. With the past and future trying to get our attention we tend to forget the present. Composer: Raphaël Beau
  • “School Figures,” by Moira North in collaboration with the poet Elee Kraljii Gardiner from her book, Serpentine Loop (5 dancers).

The company will also present “Crescendo”, performed by the ensemble and choreographed by Ensemble Director, Elisa Angeli. This piece is based on the Company’s Master Edge Class where the simplest of ice dance edges crescendo in both beauty and difficulty.

Company members Jessica Huot and Conor Wagar will perform “Power of Love,” created by renowned ballet choreographers Gaiane and Akop Akopian.

“Alberta Biography” an innovative piece of our repertory, choreographed to a
soundscape of birdcalls, will be performed by Eliot Halverson.

The performance will be followed by a Skating Party with the Company – open to all. (Skate Rental will be available from Sky Rink.)
