HOLIDAYS AT THE MORSE: TIFFANY WINDOWS IN THE PARK, CHRISTMAS EVE OPEN HOUSE, LIVE MUSIC ON FRIDAY NIGHTS

 WINTER PARK—The holiday season at the Morse Museum begins just before Thanksgiving when the Beautiful Music Muse Duo helps the Museum launch a festive schedule of free events on Friday nights, including live music, tours, and an art demonstration.

 

For five consecutive Friday evenings during the holidays (November 20 through December 18), visitors can enjoy not only free admission from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. but live music from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. In addition, at 7 p.m. on November 20, December 4, 11, and 18, the Morse will offer curator tours of the exhibition Louis Comfort Tiffany’s Laurelton Hall. The December 11 programming also includes a family tour of selected galleries and a demonstration on the art of making glass beads, and a free take-home art activity for participants.

 

On Thursday, December 3, the Morse and the City of Winter Park will present the 37th annual Christmas in the Park in downtown Winter Park. At this free event, always a highlight of the holiday season in Winter Park, the Morse lights up nine Tiffany windows in Central Park and sponsors the Bach Festival Choir, Youth Choir, and Brass Ensemble in an outdoor concert.

 

Admission to the Museum also will be free for a Christmas Eve open house, Thursday, December 24. The complete schedule of Morse holiday events, programs, and tours is as follows:

The Morse Museum houses the world’s most comprehensive collection of works by Louis Comfort Tiffany, including the chapel interior he designed for the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago and art and architectural elements from his Long Island estate, Laurelton Hall. In the Museum’s galleries, visitors will also find exhibits of American art pottery; Art Nouveau glass, ceramics, and furniture; late 19th- and early 20th-century American paintings; and leaded-glass windows by other artists of the period.

 

Museum hours from November through April are 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday; 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and Saturday; and l p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Regular admission is $5 for adults, $4 seniors, $1 for students, and free for children under 12. All visitors receive free admission from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Fridays.
