Los Angeles – October 18, 2016 – HDNET MOVIES sets the table this November, with a “Totally 80’s Thanksgiving” marathon on Thursday, November 24 featuring movies from and inspired by the 1980’s. The night begins at 6pE, with Robert Downey Jr. as a playboy who falls for a woman wanted by the mob in THE PICK-UP ARTIST, with Molly Ringwald and Dennis Hopper. Next, Leslie Nielsen is on the case as a bumbling lieutenant who must stop a plot to kill Queen Elizabeth in THE NAKED GUN: FROM THE FILES OF POLICE SQUAD!, at 7:30pE; followed by Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx as buddy cop duo Crockett & Tubbs in the 80’s throwback MIAMI VICE, at 9pE. Then, Tom Hanks grows suspicious of his strange new neighbors in the genre-bending hit THE ‘BURBS, with Carrie Fisher, at 11:15pE. And Chevy Chase stars as reporter Irwin Fletcher, investigating a shady businessman in FLETCH, with Geena Davis, at 1aE; then stumbles upon a toxic waste scheme in FLETCH LIVES, with Hal Holbrook, at 2:40aE.

Also this month is Dan Rather’s Election Movie Marathon—a seven-film ballot packed with political thrillers, comedies and more, airing Sunday, November 6 at 2pE and hosted by the legendary newsman who will introduce each film while providing his own priceless insight from over six decades in journalism. The polls open with Gene Hackman as an ex-president running for mayor in a small town in WELCOME TO MOOSEPORT, with Ray Romano. Then, John Cusack and James Spader find their friendship tested by politics in TRUE COLORS, at 4pE; and Secret Service man Michael Douglas suspects an assassin in the White House in the premiere of THE SENTINEL, with Kiefer Sutherland, at 6pE. Next, Ryan Gosling uncovers a web of deceit in the premiere of THE IDES OF MARCH, with George Clooney, at 8pE; followed by John Travolta as a governor caught in a sex scandal in PRIMARY COLORS at 9:45pE; and Clint Eastwood as an agent racing to stop madman John Malkovich from assassinating the president in IN THE LINE OF FIRE, at 12:15aE. The night comes to a close with Tim Robbins as a folk singer-turned-corrupt politician in the premiere of the 1992 satire BOB ROBERTS, with Alan Rickman, at 2:30aE.

In honor of “Movember,” HDNET MOVIES puts the spotlight on beloved leading man Burt Reynolds in one of his signature roles, with a SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT three-pack on Thursday, November 10 at 9pE. The chase kicks off with the original 1977 favorite SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT, starring Reynolds as Bandit, a trucker who finds trouble with Sheriff Jackie Gleason after picking up runaway bride Sally Field. Reynolds is back in action at 10:40pE, transporting a live elephant cross-country, with Gleason in hot pursuit, in SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT II. And Gleason puts his job on the line to bring a big fish to Texas while the Bandit is busy in SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT PART 3, at 12:25aE.

HDNET MOVIES honors one of the greatest sports epics of all-time, airing the 1986 drama HOOSIERS on Monday, November 14 at 9pE, exactly 30 years after its original release. Gene Hackman shines in this inspiring true story, as a man who receives a shot at redemption when he is hired to coach a small town high school basketball team. Although met with resistance, the underdogs come together—leading to a thrilling showdown with the defending champs. Dennis Hopper and Barbara Hershey also star.
