Realize Bradenton Meets the “Giving Challenge”

The organization seeks to meet a matching gift from FELD Entertainment during the 24-hour Giving Challenge. Funds will go towards showcasing emerging local musicians in an initiative called “Fresh Music,” a program developed in partnership with the Del Couch Music Education Foundation.

(Bradenton, FL) “If you love music/And you like to share/Give your donation/Show that you care/We’ve got to support/Realize Bradenton.” Mark Wright, the Bradenton-based songwriter and musician, penned these lyrics for Realize Bradenton’s latest promotional campaign. This initiative was developed for the 2014 Giving Challenge, a 24-hour online fundraising event benefiting approximately 400 participating nonprofits. Hosted by the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, the Giving Challenge takes place May 6-7, from noon to noon. Donors can make their pledges online at www.GivingPartnerChallenge.org by searching “Realize Bradenton.”

“We’re thrilled to participate in this year’s Giving Challenge,” says Johnette Isham, executive director of Realize Bradenton “It’s an invaluable and innovative fundraising opportunity. This year, it means more than ever because of a very special matching gift offered to us by FELD Entertainment. Feld Entertainment will match dollar for dollar, every donation to Realize Bradenton up to $5,000.”

Isham explains that the money raised during the Giving Challenge will be used for “Fresh Music,” an outreach initiative Realize Bradenton recently established with the Del Couch Music Education Foundation, a nonprofit designed to provide the area’s emerging artists opportunities to create and record music, and learn the business of the music industry. The foundation provides internships through local high schools, which give participants hands-on experience in the music business. Thanks to this grounding, hometown success stories abound. Sam Woolf, one of the final six contestants in the American Idol television show, is a student of Del Couch and has performed at various Realize Bradenton Music events.

“The Fresh Music program will introduce new and emerging musicians through Realize Bradenton’s live music events, including Music in the Park, Farmers’ Market, Pickin’ Picnic, Music and Movies, ArtSlam, and other Realize Bradenton events,” says Isham.

To inspire people to donate to Realize Bradenton during the Giving Challenge, Isham says that the organization has developed a Fresh Music logo (attached) and a one-minute video (see link below) created by 8-Beat Audio, showcasing Mark Wright performing the song he wrote for the promotion. Wright is also a musician with the Del Couch Music Education Foundation.

As part of the Fresh Music campaign, Realize Bradenton will also execute a marketing campaign to encourage the public to post videos on its Facebook page at www.facebook.com/RealizeBradenton. Each videographer is invited to tell—or sing—the story of how music speaks to them.

The Community Foundation of Sarasota County, The Patterson Foundation, Gulf Coast Community Foundation, and the Manatee Community Foundation partnered to make the 24-Hour Giving Challenge possible for local organizations with completed profiles in The Giving Partner, an online tool helping donors make more informed decisions about philanthropy.
