Breaking back into primetime, and best known for her role as sultry adulteress “Xiao Mei” in the hit series DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, multi talented actress Gwendoline Yeo lends her talent to ABC’s highly anticipated crime drama, event series AMERICAN CRIME as “1st Sgt. Richelle Yoon” alongside her Housewives co-star Felicity Huffman, premiering Thursday, March 5th at 10p/9c. Adding to ABC’s drama filled Thursday nights, the series follows the murder case of a young couple as the search for their killer stretches across racial lines and threatens to destroy a community in Modesto, CA.
The former Miss Asian America and Miss Chinatown USA originated from Signapore and moved to the states at a young age where she perfected her English by watching episodes of the daytime soap opera GENERAL HOSPITAL, which she would later star on in her early career. She graduated from UCLA at the tender age of 19 and immediately began pursuing her acting aspirations, earning her first role in the theatre.
Yeo first caught the eye of critics as she played opposite Robert Duvall and Thomas Hayden Church in the Emmy Award Winning miniseries BROKEN TRAIL. Since she has held a number of notable primetime roles on shows including CHUCK, NYPD BLUE, JUDGING AMY, TWO AND A HALF MEN and CASTLE. She has also been a featured voice in a number of hit cartoon series including Disney’s KIM POSSIBLE, STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS, BEN 10: OMNIVERSE and PHINEAS AND FERB to name a few.
When she’s not on the screen Yeo enjoys spending time with her yorkie, playing the Chinese Zither and working on her screenplay.
