For the 2nd week in a row, ABC ranked No. 2 on Tuesday to CBS’ original drama lineup in Total Viewers (4.9 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.4/4).

Fresh Off the Boat” (8:00-9:00 p.m. – 5.9 million and 1.7/6 in AD18-49):

Building on the half-hour in Adults 18-49 (1.7/6 to 1.8/6) from 8:00-9:00 p.m., ABC’s back-to-back episodes of “Fresh Off the Boat” opened as Tuesday’s Top 2 comedy telecasts, dominating NBC’s back-to-back episodes of “Parks & Recreation” by 70% (1.7/6 vs. 1.0/3).  In addition to beating “Parks & Rec” head to head, “Fresh Off the Boat” also delivered much higher ratings than original comedies from 9:00-10:00 p.m. on Fox and NBC: “New Girl” (1.3/4), “The Mindy Project” (1.0/3), “Marry Me” (0.8/2) and “About a Boy” (0.8/3).

  • Among Adults 18-49 (1.7/6 and 1.8/6), the new ABC comedy scored Tuesday’s Top 2 highest-rated comedy telecasts in nearly 4 months, behind only “The Voice”-led “Marry Me” on 10/21/14 at a 1.8 rating. In Total Viewers (6.0 million and 5.8 million), “Fresh Off the Boat” drew Tuesday’s two biggest comedy audiences since the debut telecast of “Marry Me” out of “The Voice” on 10/14/14.

  • In viewers and young adults, the 8:00 p.m. time-period premiere of “Fresh Off the Boat” (6.0 million and 1.7/6) paced well ahead of the debut of “Selfie” in September and its subsequent telecasts to deliver ABC’s best original comedy performance in the half-hour since May 2012 – since “Last Man Standing” on 5/8/12.

Marvel’s Agent Carter” (9:00-10:00 p.m. – 4.2 million and 1.4/4 in AD18-49):

At 9:00 p.m., ABC’s “Marvel’s Agent Carter” was up week to week among Adults 18-49 (+8% – 1.4/4 vs. 1.3/4), taking second in the hour over original comedies on NBC (“Marry Me”/”About a Boy” = 0.8/2) and Fox (“New Girl”/”The Mindy Project” = 1.1/3). The new ABC drama also held second in the slot with Total Viewers (4.2 million).

Forever” (10:00-11:00 p.m. – 4.6 million and 1.1/4 in AD18-49):

At 10:00 p.m., ABC’s “Forever” jumped 22% week to week in Adults 18-49 (1.1/4 vs 0.9/3) to match its best number since the start of December – since 12/2/14. Boasting strong year-to-year time-period improvement, “Forever” grew its hour from the year-ago night by 53% in Total Viewers and by 57% in Adults 18-49 (“Killer Women” = 3.0 million and 0.7/2 on 2/11/14).

A note about DVR penetration: DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample is currently at 49% in U.S. TV Homes. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which are increasingly not reflected in the overnight Live + Same Day numbers. As a result, the Live + 7 Day ratings are the most accurate measure to gauge the size of the TV audience
