Ah, America. Land full of opportunity and skilled folks who make things… Literally things we take for granted. Ever wonder how something is made, and see the attention to details? A skilled artisan made that. Depending on what is made and how it is made, it usually had the human touch to it. And that human touch can give personality to each piece. Handcrafted America (Susie Films) Premieres on INSP, Tuesday, March 1st at 8pm ET.

I had the opportunity for first look at “Handcrafted America” hosted by a very comfortable-on-film Jill Wagner. Before we get to the content, I really need to specifically call out Wagner on her presence, rapport with everyone and much improv as situation allows. I think they just gave her an outline what she is to talk about, and does correct commentary as appropriate. A host can make or break a show, Wagner is highly photogenic at all angles with impeccable style, naturally inquisitive and has the perfect voice. This makes the viewer want to learn more about what she speaks of.

This pilot includes accomplished persons in their unique profession, and Wagner participates to a slight extent in the making of the unique pieces. It shows it isn’t as easy as it looks!

The entire “real life” cast I could see comfortable with her, the filming in their workshop/studio and this allowed them to be who they are.

The cinematography is second to none. It is engaging enough to keep the person watching for the entire show. Also, the segments on how they make things are interesting and makes sense from start to finish. In addition, they do a great job of telling us who these people are. Which prompts further curiosity, as someone, who knows someone, lives next to someone, who lives near them!

Below is the press release from INSP directly, and I will say, 100% it is exactly what they say it is. No brag, just fact. It is also a very family friendly program.

I look forward to tune in to the show and to see how the series evolves!

Handcrafted America Premieres Tuesday, March 1st at 8pm ET
Indian Land, SCJill Wagner (Teen Wolf, Wipeout, Christmas in the Smokies) is set to host INSP’s newest original series, Handcrafted America.

In Handcrafted America, Wagner travels the country on a quest to find talented men and women who make extraordinary items by hand. In every half-hour episode, Jill meets three gifted craftsmen and gets a behind-the-scenes look their handiwork, as well as the process of conception and design. Along the way, viewers learn about the history and cultural heritage that inspire and influence each creation.

“The Maker Movement is on fire!” said Craig Miller, VP of Original Series at INSP.  “Etsy, Pinterest, DIY, Kickstarter and Maker Faire boast millions of people and billions of dollars.  Americans still work with their hands and they seek out unique, one-of-a-kind creations for themselves and for others. Artisans from coast to coast still create handcrafted treasures. This is the focal point of the series. From glass blowing to ornate clock making to blacksmithing, Handcrafted America entertains and informs – not in a dry, academic way, but with adventure, spirited discovery, fun and authenticity.”

Miller continued, “Jill’s infectious enthusiasm will captivate viewers. She is so engaging and infuses the series with humor and playfulness.  Yet she genuinely is interested in the exploration process of each artist’s story.  Jill is a natural at making everyone on set feel completely comfortable.  It really adds joy and lightheartedness to this homespun show.”

The series is co-produced by Susie Films and is scheduled to premiere on INSP on March 1st, 2016 at 8pm ET.   To learn more, visit the Handcrafted America webpage on INSP.
