Florida is blessed with the world’s finest beaches, culture and beautiful blue skies, but what also brings tourists to our state in record numbers is the many award-winning restaurants and resorts that are abundant in our state.
With taking so many these treasures for granted,  it was an eye opener to be invited to discover one of the most influential trade associations here in Florida that has protected, educated and promoted Florida’s $82 billion  hospitality industry.  The Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association (FRLA) is a non-profit trade association run by President and CEO, Carol Dover.
Dover has successfully served as the leader of the more than 10,000 members and was the guest speaker on Tuesday at the beautiful Ritz Carlton in downtown Sarasota. It was of great interest to learn a few indisputable facts about the hospitality industry in Florida and how they have benefited the economy and promoted job growth.  It is an $82 billion dollar industry, hires more than 1.1 million employees and is more than 23% of Florida’s economy.  This year alone, the association boasts another record year.  Florida hits an all-time record high for tourism with more than 54.1 million visitors in just the first half of 2015.  If this trend continues, Florida is expected to reach over 100 million visitors in 2015.
We wish the Florida Restaurant Association continued success and are grateful for their enormous contribution to The Sunshine State that we all call home!
