Voodoo Swing is Shorty K on lead guitar and vocals; Leeroy Nelson on drums and hollerin’, and Tommy Collins on the double-bass. Their unique style of “rip-it-up” Rockabilly first attracted England’s Nervous Records in 1993. Voodoo Swing’s debut album “We’re Usin’ Code Names!” is followed by a second album, “Well, Okay Then!” released on Netherlands’ Rockhouse Records label. Voodoo Swing is also featured on Rockabilly compilations “American Rumble” and “The Sounds of Gasoline’’. The band also scores the soundtrack for the Lowrider documentary “Low and Slow” as well as for the full-length feature film “Rockabilly Vampire”. In 1998, Shorty is awarded “Best Electric Guitar Player” by Salt Lake’s City Weekly Magazine reader’s poll. In the early years, the band headquartered in Salt Lake City. After a long hiatus, the band regrouped in Phoenix and released their third record, “Greasers Por Vida”. In 2010 the band, released “Refried Voodoo Beans” produced by Olivier Zahm. Then 2 other albums were released with Electric Lotus Label: the pure rockabilly “Keep on Rollin’” in 2011, then “Fast Cars, Guitars, Tattoos and Scars” in 2013 blending diverse roots music influences from country to blues. The same year, the band placed several songs for commercials (Go-Pro, Nascar, Rip Curl…). In 2014, Voodoo Swing decided to move forward and focus on more individual projects. To celebrate its 20 years career, the band will showcase its roots music know-how for 2 farewell shows in AZ, on June 7th at their “HQ”, the Blooze Bar – 12014 N 32nd St, Phoenix, AZ and June 14th during Summer Eve at Martyr Custom Cycle – 17998 s 186th St Queen Creek, AZ 85142 Then, they’ll fly to Europe for their 5th and last tour: 23 dates from June 21st to July 26th, 2014. They will promote their latest record as well as the launch of singer/guitarist Shorty K’s new solo album “Full Custom Boogie”. They’ll perform at festivals such as Muddy Roots, Sjock in Belgium, Cahors Blues Festival in France, and Blue Balls festival In Switzerland. Shorty K debuts a solo chapter based on his love for Blues. After 20 years given to the rockabilly trio, leader Shorty K decided to follow his Muse, his love for the sound of Blues guitar players such as Dave Gonzalez (The Paladins), Jimmie Vaughan, Steve Cropper, Kid Ramos… He’s just recorded his first solo album “Full Custom Boogie” at Electric Lotus Music in Phoenix, AZ, produced by Olivier Zahm, to be released in Fall 2014. Shorty K worked notably with legendary Brian Fahey (The Paladins) and other fantastic musicians who definitely know their blues: Jeff Naylor and Shea Marshall from the Sugar Thieves, Ryan Baker, Tommy Collins, Ali Salcedo, Kevin Tangney, Mark Witt and the soulful singer Kenyata Christina for a duet “a la” Ike and Tina Turner. The result sounds as if Shorty traded his hair pomade for cooking grease. “I really wanted this album to be my tribute to all of the amazing blues guitar players who have influenced me over the years. With the help of Olivier, Brian, and Jeff, it evolved into something even better than I’d hoped for.» explains Shorty. « This album has been a true labor of love. I hope that Voodoo Swing fans, as well as new fans out there like it!” Voodoo Swing will spread again its fantastic energy in AZ for 2 last shows, then in Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, France and Switzerland, performing their rockabilly hits, but also, in worldwide exclusivity, Shorty K’s new blues album! This is your last chance to catch them live! Come meet the most energizing ambassadors of authentic roots music, and your privilege to discover 2014’s most exciting blues release. Reviews ” If you’re looking for a record by one of America’s hottest roots rock acts, then you’ve found it” Buster Fayte’s Rockabilly Romp – Jan. 2013 Fast Cars, Guitars, Tattoos & Scars, is the Voodoo Swing sound you expect … But then your attention gets caught by the banjo in the country song When death comes a callin’. And so each song can be a bluegrass, honky-tonk suprise, with rockabilly in between” – Rockabilly-on-line – February 2013 « The album “Fast Cars, Guitars, Tattoos & Scars” from Voodoo Swing is as contemporary rockabilly should sound. There must be no further doubt about it.” – Rootstime – Feb. 2013 “Powerhouse trio from Phoenix, these guys are what rock & roll (whatever you call it) is all about.” –
