(Los Angeles, CA) – December 22, 2015

The MuseBox today announced that Rosie Carney, the charismatic 18-year-old singer/songwriter from Donegal, Ireland, has released her newest single, the sweetly bitter ballad “Antidote.” Inspired by masters of melancholy Joni Mitchell and Bon Iver, Carney calls “Antidote” a “plea to embrace and feel – rather than reject and mask – the heartbreak associated with loss.” In 2013, the then 16-year-old Carney burst onto Ireland’s music scene with a stunning performance at St. James’ Church during Ireland’s highly acclaimed Other Voices festival (Hozier, The National, Ryan Adams). While Carney’s talent has already taken her to London, New York, and Los Angeles, the rapidly rising songstress will travel to Austin, TX in March 2016 to make her SXSW debut.

According to Ross Angeles of Metro Herald, Carney is an exceptional talent worthy of comparisons to one of today’s most prominent songwriters:

“Carney, I was told by someone earlier in the night, is a teenaged prodigy from Donegal. My overwhelming skepticism lasts only as long as her first note. The tiny thing is dwarfed by the guitar she commands, while she herself in turn appears to be an instrument mastered by some unseen player, with a magically effortless voice tuned to perfection.”

Vulnerability is a currency in which Carney proudly deals. While many of today’s songwriters fear showing genuine feelings, Carney wrote “Antidote” as an attempt to encourage herself and listeners to “let feelings of sadness and loss run their course without using an antidote.” Carney explains that “Antidote” was inspired by the feeling that comes with “being heartbroken after a breakup or the loss of something dear to you.”

Rosie Carney will be performing several showcases at SXSW and is available for pre-festival interviews.
