EAGLE ROCK ENTERTAINMENT EXPANDS ITS CONTENT INITIATIVES INTO THE LATIN MARKET

New York, NY (January 11, 2017)— Sustaining a strong legacy of producing and distributing high quality HD programming, from concert films (newly filmed and archival) to music documentaries, Eagle Rock Entertainment is adding to its already extensive multi-genre release catalog. Working with some of today’s top International Latin artists, Eagle Rock is broadening its reach into the Latin market. This expansion is showcased with a recently filmed live concert from Colombian reggaeton superstar and Multiple Latin Grammy Winner J Balvin.

Filmed in Balvin’s hometown of Medellin, Colombia this past November, the as-yet-untitled concert will be released in Spring/Summer 2017. Balvin’s recent Energia won “Best Urban Album” at the Latin Grammy Awards, along with his single “Ay Vamos” which received “Best Urban Song”. Additionally, his single – #1 Billboard Latin chart-topper “Ginza” — broke the record for the most views of a Latin music video within the first 24 hours of its release. “Safari” featuring Pharrell Williams, Balvin’s latest hit is climbing the global charts on Spotify, currently #30 worldwide.

This initiative is the second in a string of planned releases between UMLA (Universal Music Latin America) and Eagle Rock Entertainment. Earlier this year, Eagle Rock released the concert/documentary film, EL CAMINO MAS LARGO (The Longest Road) with Spanish rock music superstar Enrique Bunbury. The film, directed by Alexis Morante chronicles Bunbury’s career-defining 2010 tour and rise to stardom.

“I am delighted to be working alongside UMLA, adding some of their top performers to our existing catalog of artists from around the globe. We’ve had tremendous success in licensing our content worldwide across all media outlets, and this is a natural extension for us,” expressed Eagle Rock’s Chairman and CEO Terry Shand. “The Latin and U.S. Hispanic markets are key priorities for us and we want to further enhance our reach there. We see no better way than to look within and join forces with UMLA who have an incredible and impressive roster of award-winning acts and emerging artists. This not only allows us to produce and supply content to these markets using their own homegrown talent, but also helps support the artists to cultivate and reach new fan bases around the world,” he maintained.

The relationship between Eagle Rock and UMLA was born out of our artists’ needs to provide different audiovisual formats to meet Latin consumer demands. Eagle Rock has a history of worldwide success which will now expand to all territories in Latin America, Spain & Portugal. J Balvin’s concert is one of many projects which are currently in the works,” added UMLA & Iberian Peninsula Chairman and CEO Jesus Lopez. “I want to extend my gratitude to Terry and his team for their talent, enthusiasm and support towards our Latin artists.”

Eagle Rock Entertainment is the world’s largest producer and distributor of music programming for TV, DVD, Blu-Ray and Digital Media.
