Overview

The French warrior saint, a poor illiterate peasant who led her country to victory: Joan of Arc has intrigued the imagination for centuries. It was only natural that Giuseppe Verdi's gifts for epic sweep and gripping story-telling would turn to this dramatic story.

An early success for the composer, the opera is rich in thrilling choruses, imaginative orchestral writing, and captivating melodies. Sarasota Opera's Verdi Cycle and Masterworks Revival Series return with a rare production of this rousing work.
