DC Bureau Chief and Executive Producer of “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” Jonathan Greenberger sent the following note to the news division this morning announcing that Karen Travers, Mary Bruce and Stephanie Ramos have become multi-platform reporters for ABC News.

DC Team-

I’m happy to announce Karen Travers, Mary Bruce and Stephanie Ramos will become multi-platform reporters covering national and international news for all ABC News platforms with an emphasis on NewsOne, Radio and Digital.

These exceptional journalists have experience shooting, writing, editing, producing and reporting for a live broadcast and will use their skills to break news and report stories on air and for radio, mobile, digital and social media.

Karen Travers joined ABC News in 2000 as an intern and over the past 15 years has developed an impressive resume covering Washington and national politics. She has traveled across the country and to almost 50 foreign nations covering the Obama and Bush administrations, including traveling twice to Afghanistan covering President Obama’s secret trips in 2010. Karen also covered the Ferguson grand jury decision, the 2013 government shutdown and three presidential elections. She currently lives with her family in DC and is an avid sports fan, dropping everything for any team from Philadelphia and the Georgetown Hoyas.

Since joining ABC News, Mary Bruce has reported on President Obama’s re-election campaign and traveled around the world with him, covering stories such as the Secret Service scandal in Colombia and historic trips to Myanmar and Panama. While working for “This Week with George Stephanopoulos,” Mary established her producing skills, helping produce interviews with the 2008 presidential candidates and working on the ABC presidential debates. Mary is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis and a native of Washington, D.C. In her spare time, Mary loves to travel and spend time with her family.

Stephanie Ramos joins the team from KMBC in Kansas City, where she has anchored and reported since 2012. Her work there was particularly notable for her coverage of immigrant children caught crossing into the U.S. from Mexico.  In 2008, Stephanie served as a 1st Lieutenant in Iraq and was awarded multiple medals for her exceptional service including the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal and Iraq Campaign Medal. Stephanie and her husband produced an award-winning special “To Baghdad & Back,” when she returned, using the footage she shot on a small handheld camcorder during her tour. Stephanie will join us in June after completing the Adjutant Generals Captain Career Course.

In the coming weeks, we will be announcing more additions to this team. In the meantime, please join me in congratulating Karen, Mary and Stephanie.

Jonathan
