Come, Touch the Robe
A Palm Sunday Cantata,
March 29 at both 8:30 & 10:00 AM
presented by the Roser Community Church Chancel Choir and Musicians.
The words of the music will tell of encounters with the Healer, the Servant, the LORD of EASTER! You will hear songs like Hosanna in the Streets, King of Suffering, Soldiers of the Cross and O Death, Where Is Your Sting?
In the quiet of the Sanctuary with the soft colors of the sun streaming through the stained glass windows listeners will be transported back in time to the streets of Jerusalem. There will not be a sermon as the words of the cantata will tell the story. The choir is directed by  Phyllis O’Keef, Interim Director of Music Ministries, and will be accompanied by piano, flute, clarinet, violins, and trumpets. The Joyful Noise Children’s Choir will sing during the program. So, bring the whole family for this glorious presentation.
“Come Touch the Robe” is written by Pepper Choplin and recounts the interaction of several people who were with Jesus during His last days on earth.  Come, prepare your heart to meet Jesus in an intimate way; come experience the healing, the glory, and the power of Christ; come, touch the robe of our Lord.”
Everyone will receive a palm cross as they leave!  The crosses are hand-woven by villagers near Masasi, Tanzania. They are made from dried leaves of the dwarf palm, and last a lifetime. Father Talbot, an Anglican priest observed the poverty of the people and sought ways for them to increase their income. He encouraged the villagers to begin weaving palm crosses to sell to churches for use on Palm Sunday. Net proceeds from the sale of crosses are used to help meet basic human needs such as clean drinking water, HIV/AIDS education, fighting hunger, and farming ventures. Since its inception, African Palms USA has awarded over $1.9 million to African communities. For more information about the crosses please go to http://www.africanpalmsusa.org/.
