Coldwell Banker Heritage Realtors, Habitat for Humanity, and Dragons Team Up For Home Build

Volunteers Will Build Home For Huber Heights Family on Fifth Third Field Plaza

Dayton, Ohio – Coldwell Banker Heritage Realtors, Habitat for Humanity and the Dayton Dragons have teamed up to make a dream come true for a Huber Heights family.

On Saturday, August 29 from 10am-3pm, 150 volunteers from Coldwell Banker Heritage Realtors and Habitat for Humanity will come together to build a house frame on the Fifth Third Field plaza. Dayton Dragons players, pitching coach Tom Browning and Dragons mascots Heater and Gem will also be at the event to show support for the volunteers.

Habitat for Humanity does eleven home builds each year. Each of these builds takes about 150 volunteers and five hours, and saves Habitat for Humanity $10,000 in construction costs and two weeks of construction time.

“Habitat for Humanity of Greater Dayton is excited to engage the staff of Coldwell Banker Heritage Realtors in the construction of this house! We are so grateful to them as donors as they are providing funds as well as the 150 volunteers required to do this. It is a true testament to their dedication to ending the cycle of poverty by providing adequate housing to another hard-working family in the Dayton region,” said Habitat for Humanity Director of Development, Brad Roediger.

Coldwell Banker and Habitat for Humanity have been longtime partners, and decided this year to bring this relationship to Fifth Third Field and the Dayton Dragons.

“We believe in home. We believe in promoting home ownership for anyone and everyone and doing our part to help people fulfill the American Dream,” said Shannon Landers, Director of Recruitment for Coldwell Banker Heritage Realtors.

On Saturday, the volunteers will complete the frame of the house which will be left up for Dragons fans to walk through before the games on Saturday, August 29 through Tuesday, September 1. Habitat for Humanity will have a booth on the plaza before each game, and Dragons fans will be invited to write thank you notes to the volunteers and well-wishes to the family directly on the house frame. After the home stand, the house frame will be moved to its final location in Huber Heights.

The general public is invited to stop by the home build on Saturday, and to visit the finished product before the Dayton Dragons games on Saturday, August 29 through Tuesday, September 1.
