This is a 3 1⁄2 hour class designed for those who have no previous experience with voiceover work – an opportunity to participate in a studio workshop that affords you the chance to “try it out” for yourself and see how comfortable you are in the environment without any commitment to further instruction.Workshop Schedule and Content by John Burr –http://www.johnburrvoice.com/6:00 – 6:30 p.m.Discussion of sources of business for the voiceover talent. What you can expect to be paid for various kinds of work. The skills needed to do the job. Typical session scenarios. Basics of script interpretation: pace, pitch, pause, and energy considerations. Fundamental language dynamics issues, and how they directly affect the drama of delivery. How to listen to the producer/director to ensure that he or she gets the desired results. Setting up a home studio for online auditions and jobs.6:30 – 7:40 p.m.Script delivery and critique. Commercials. Each student will receive a script set containing a variety of commercials and narrations. From this script set, each student will perform from a script assigned to him/her, and this performance will be recorded and played back for the class. John will then offer his critique of the performance, the student will make notes from the critique, and a second “take” will be recorded and played back to assess the improvement derived from the critique. 7:40 – 7:50 – 10 minute break.7:50 – 9:00Script delivery and critique: NarrationsSame scenario as with Commercials9:00 – 9:30Wrap-up of topics discussed and an opportunity for students to ask questions.Following the class, John will call each student the following day and render his opinion as to that person’s basic voiceover skills, and whether or not he would recommend pursuing a training program and producing a demo.Fee: 75.00 – Only 12 seats available – your purchase secures your seat.
