As the April 29 release of their third studio album–PHOSPHORESCENT HARVEST  (Silver Arrow Records)—approaches, the CHRIS ROBINSON BROTHERHOOD has partnered with BILLBOARD.COM to exclusively premiere the song “Beggar’s Moon,” today (4/16). “We took a year off and it’s strong and it’s different,” Chris Robinson tells Billboard. “Everybody’s very proud of this record. We all see (the band) as something that’s alive and organic; that’s part of the psychedelic heart of the whole philosophy of the thing. The musical and personal camaraderie is very special.”

In tandem with the album’s release, THE CHRIS ROBINSON BROTHERHOOD—Chris Robinson (lead vocals, guitar), Neal Casal (guitar, vocals), Adam MacDougall (keys, vocals), George Sluppick (drums) and Mark Dutton (bass, vocals)–is hitting the road this spring and summer. Currently performing at select dates and festivals in the Southeast, the band’s official headlining tour will start April 29 at Terrapin Crossroads in San Rafael, CA. PHOSPHORESCENT HARVEST continues to earn early praise:

 

• Rollingstone.com’s John D. Luerssen said the album opener, “Shore Power,” “boasts a vintage rock vibe that’s at once quirky, trippy, soulful and downright magnetic.”

 

• Richard B. Simon of Relix magazine raves that “The album is dark and strange and pretty, a collection of love songs. There’s a lot to listen to: complex song structures, recurrent images, hints of cycle, a system of metaphor being laid out…it’s rock music turned inside out, as the synchronized riffs provide rhythmic context for the synthesized phantasmagoria, which sets the subtle roar of the guitar leads. This band is maturing too. They’re finding their true sound in the process.”

 

• Guitarworld.com’s James Wood said, “Songs like ‘Shore Power,’ ‘Badlands’ and the beautiful ‘Wanderer’s Lament’ contain tasty, inspired guitar arrangements; meanwhile, Robinson’s lyrics are thoughtfully constructed from dreams and casual observation.”

 

PHOSPHORESCENT HARVEST follows the release of the companion albums Big Moon Ritual (June 2012) and The Magic Door (September 2012) plus last year’s live quadruple vinyl Betty’s S.F. Blends, Vol 1. The group continues to record with producer Thom Monahan,and Robinson wrote all of the songs with Casal, except for two that are Robinson solo compositions (“Tornado,” “Jump The Turnstiles”).
