AUSTIN (October 3, 2018) — Today is Charlie Duke’s birthday. The famed astronaut, one of only 12 men to walk on the moon, was born in 1935. He is a friend of Coal and Flynt Stryker and spent part of today recalling meeting the pair and how he became the one person in history to take Country music to the moon.

The Stryker Brothers’ most recent “sighting” was in July when a Texas ranch owner confirmed finding music written and recorded by Coal and Flynt Stryker, the mythical duo rumored to have died in a prison fire on September 7, 1974.
The set of reel-to-reel tapes have since been digitally converted and were made available to the public on Friday, September 7, 2018 under the title, Burn Band.
Though there have been rumors that Coal and Flynt are anywhere from Guatemala to Mexia, there’s also a rumor that Robert Earl Keen, Shooter Jennings, Randy Rogers, Lloyd Maines and/or Todd Snider have stepped into the roles of Coal and Flynt. The aforementioned have declined the accusations, citing the duo’s mythology as “hallowed ground.”
