Ten tips to keep your pet safe this Fourth of July weekend:

  1. Keep your pet indoors at all times
  2. Don’t put insect repellent on your pet that isn’t specifically for pet use
  3. Alcoholic drinks poison pets
  4. Leave your pet at home
  5. Have your pet properly identified
  6. Keep your pet away from glow jewelry
  7. NEVER use fireworks around pets
  8. Don’t give your pet “table food”
  9. Lighter fluid and matches are harmful to pets
  10. Citronella insect control products harm pets, too

Cat Depot will be closed Friday, July 4th.

Meet Rue – Independent Female Seeks Forever Home

Rue I am a three year old, independent, full-figured, Manx looking for a family who will love me and all my “quirks.”

I have been told my strong-willed nature can be a little intimidating, but truth be told, I want to find a home that will help me break from my reputation and smooth out all my rough edges. I really am a loving girl, who enjoys cat tree climbing, feather toys and lounging on the patio. I am ready to find a life-long companion who I can confide in, take long naps with, and trust with my secrets; all in all, I really just want a best friend.

If you too, have a love for cat naps, the feeling of the summer breeze blowing through your whiskers, and are in need of a best friend, just give me a meow.

Donor Challenges Community to Match Pledge

Zeke, Friends LIke Me An anonymous donor has pledged a donation of $10 for every cat adopted at Cat Depot between June and December 2014. The donation will benefit the Friends Like Me Program which provides emergency medical care and treatment to Cat Depot cats and kittens who are sick, injured or have chronic illnesses.

The donor is challenging the community to match the pledge at $10, or for as little as $1.00 per cat, to help with surgery, x-rays, special food and medications.

Since the announcement, several donors have come forward with their own creative pledges! Mighty Lou, caped crusader for Friends Like Me, pledged his cat treat money and will donate $10 for every special needs cat adopted between July 1 through December 31, 2014.

Not to be outdone, Whitey Wobbles and family committed their allowance to give $10 for every cat adopted who is 8 years old or older.

Thank you donors, who have committed to an adoption pledge! You are changing the destiny of homeless cats.

We encourage everyone to step up and join the challenge! What will your pledge be?

Dedicated to saving lives, Cat Depot, a nonprofit 501 (c)3 no-kill, free-roaming facility, is recognized for its progressive design and commitment to helping homeless, abandoned and injured animals.
