CARRIE GORMLEY AND JONATHAN GITLIN
PROMOTED TO TOP POSTS AT LEADING GLOBAL ENTERTAINMENT MARKETING AGENCY
CREATE ADVERTISING GROUP

Culver City, Calif., October 22, 2014 —  Create Advertising Group, an award-winning, entertainment marketing agency that focuses on fulfilling the creative needs of film, television, gaming and branding clients, has promoted two long-standing executives to key roles at the company.

David Stern, a 20-year industry veteran who has served as Managing Partner of Create Advertising since co-founding the company in 2005, announced today that Carrie Gormley has been promoted to President of Theatrical Advertising, and Jonathan Gitlin has been upped to the role of President of Television and Gaming. Both Gitlin and Gormley will report to Stern, who serves as CEO of Create and will continue to remain focused on expanding the company’s portfolio of services and international recognition, while also leading the business, strategy and creative direction of the 100 member firm. Create is recognized for its work developing film trailers, television spots and other audio visual material used in entertainment marketing.

As the advertising industry has shifted, evolved and expanded, Create Advertising was the first Hollywood-focused marketing agency to open an office in the United Kingdom. And the company has become well known for  diversifying into multi-cultural campaigns, particularly in the Hispanic market.

Gormley will oversee the theatrical group, which has grown in prominence over the past several years as the company has cemented its reputation as one of the industry’s top motion picture creative vendors. Create has worked with almost every major studio on high profile campaigns for some of the most successful worldwide blockbusters in recent memory, among them The Amazing Spider-Man 1 & 2, The Lego Movie,  Despicable Me 2, Thor: The Dark World,  Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Alice in Wonderland, Skyfall, Casino Royale, Iron Man, Iron Man 2, 2012 and Django Unchained, among literally hundreds of others.

While Create’s motion picture division has excelled, the company has also seen dynamic growth in its non-theatrical operations. Known for crafting memorable campaigns, Gitlin’s creative leadership has helped expand the company’s portfolio into television and gaming. For television, Create has produced memorable trailers and spots for some of the most daring and creatively ambitious programs on the air, among them “Sons of Anarchy,” “Orange is the New Black,” “Fargo,” “Manhattan,” and “The Americans.” In the gaming arena, the company has become equally well known for innovative ads launching mega hits such as “Dark Souls II,” “God of War 3,” “Twisted Metal,” “Just Dance 4,” as well as the console debut of Playstation 4.

Additionally, its branding division has worked closely with market leaders  such as Netflix, Machinima, the BBC and Sony Playstation.

“As Create Advertising continues to grow and expand, I couldn’t be more proud to have two of the most creative and innovative leaders as partners helping guide the future of our firm,” said Stern. “Jonathan and Carrie represent the best of Create. They are both long time members of our team and part of our DNA is recognizing and rewarding home grown talent. Carrie’s endless creative abilities and skill, business savvy, and energy will keep us competitive in the movie marketing business of the future,” Stern said. “She is a perfectionist who understands that talent and great editing is the life blood of our business and she knows how to work with clients and her team to get the best out of the material.”

In addressing the growth in the non-theatrical and television area, Stern said, “Jonathan began as an intern 10 years ago and he has proven himself to be one of the true leaders of our company. He has extended our brand into gaming, television, and new media ventures. The company’s ability to enter these new arenas and successfully incorporate this work into our creative flow has been critical to our on going expansion and success.”

Create Advertising is enjoying a strong 2014, having recently been nominated for four upcoming Key Art Awards for its theatrical trailer for “Lucy” as well as its television work for “Fargo” and “Orange is the New Black.”

Besides this year’s Key Art Awards nominations, previous honors for Create Advertising include its 2013 Key Art Awards for “Stoker” and “Orange is the New Black” and a 2012 Golden Trailer Award for “Coriolanus.” Other award-winning campaigns include their work on, among other major titles, “Iron Man 2,” “Black Swan,” “Tron,” “The King’s Speech,” “Up,” “District 9,” “This Is It,” “Casino Royale” and “Smokin’ Aces.” Create was also previously nominated for two Video Game Marketing Awards, and several Screen International Marketing/Distribution Awards, including a nomination for U.K. Creative Agency of the Year in 2012.
