Captains for the 2017 Manatee River Boat Parade Wanted
Parade organizers hope that cash prizes and bragging rights encourage boater participation as the due date for captain registration into the Manatee River Holiday Boat Parade comes to a close.

Bradenton, Fla., Nov. 27, 2017 — Organizers of the Manatee River Holiday Boat Parade are seeking captains for the 2017 season. The annual event takes place on the Manatee River in December of each year, and it marks the start to the holiday season for many Bradenton residents and visitors. Participation from boaters makes all the difference. Each decorated vessel enchants and delights the crowd as captains make their way from the Snead Island area taking off from the west cove of Shaw’s Point. Boats pass by many public and private riverside viewing areas including Bradenton Yacht Club, Riverhouse Reef & Grill, the west side of Green Bridge, the Riverwalk Gateway at Bacarrota Ave along with the PIER 22 restaurant.

Individuals, businesses, and organizations of all types are encouraged to participate. Entry forms can be completed online at HolidayBoatParade.com. This year’s parade takes place starting at dusk on Saturday, Dec. 9. Cash prizes totaling $1,900 are up for grabs, and boaters compete for awards in the following categories: first and second place-lighted boat 40 feet and over along with first and second place-lighted boat under 40 feet. Vessels & crew performances are judged on creativity, spirit, crowd reaction and music.

All participating captains receive gifts as well as entry into the VIP Awards Party, which takes place at the Bradenton Yacht Club immediately following the parade. Registration forms are due by Dec. 5, and there are no entry fees required.
