Event: “Can you really be a free thinker?” Date: Friday, April 11, 2014 Speaker: Page Brown, Practicing Buddhist, Sarasota Mindfulness Meditation Center Time: 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Location: Unitarian Universalist Church of Sarasota, 3975 Fruitville Rd., Sarasota, FL Admission: Free “Can you really be a free thinker?” is the topic of the next Freethinkers’ Briefing at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Sarasota that will feature Page Brown. Brown, a practicing Buddhist, is currently affiliated with the Mindfulness Meditation Center in Sarasota. This briefing, in cooperation with the Lifelong Learning Academy (lla-sm.org), will help answer questions such as do you consider yourself a free thinker? How would you describe a free thinker? What if you are merely a product of your conditioning or trapped by your past? The Buddha had a radical view of the self that flies in the face of most western thinking. Come hear what the Buddha had to say and judge for yourself whether western scholars and scientists got it wrong and saddled you with their mistaken and ‘topsy turvy’ views.
