DALLAS ENGAGEMENT ADDED TO

FIRST NATIONAL TOUR OF NEW YORK’S LONGEST RUNNING COMEDY

STARRING ORIGNAL STAR MICHAEL URIE

PLAYING THE DALLAS CITY PERFORMANCE HALL

SEPTEMBER 3 – SEPTEMBER 6, 2014

The longest running comedy in New York, now in its second smash year, is proud to announce the addition of a Dallas engagement to the first national tour of Buyer & Cellar, the critically acclaimed, award winning play about a (fictional) Los Angeles actor who takes a job working in the (very real) basement shopping arcade of Barbra Streisand’s Malibu estate. The comedy will play the Dallas City Performance Hall beginning Wednesday, September 3, 2014 through Saturday, September 6, 2014.  Tickets are available now only as part of the inaugural OFF BROADWAY ON FLORA series presented by the AT&T Performing Arts Center in multiple venues in the downtown Dallas Arts District.  Subscriptions for this 5-show series are on sale now at www.attpac.org.

Original New York Star and Texas native Michael Urie (“Ugly Betty”) launched the first national tour at Chicago’s Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place where the show is currently playing to critical acclaim through Sunday, June 15, 2014, followed by an engagement at Washington D.C.’s Harman Center for the Arts from Friday, June 20, 2014 through Sunday, June 29, 2014.  Urie will then take Buyer & Cellar to Los Angeles’ Mark Taper Forum for six weeks from Wednesday, July 9, 2014 through Sunday, August 17, 2014 followed by an engagement at San Francisco’s SHN Curran Theatre beginning Tuesday, August 19, 2014 through Sunday, August 31, 2014. Buyer & Cellar will play additional cities including a three-week engagement at Toronto’s Panasonic Theatre from Wednesday, November 12, 2014 through Thursday, November 30, 2014 (Casting TBD) with more cities to be announced shortly.  Buyer & Cellar, which recouped its initial investment faster than any Off-Broadway show in recent history, is written by Jonathan Tolins and directed by Stephen Brackett.  Buyer & Cellar is produced by Darren Bagert, Dan Shaheen and Ted Snowdon.

The critically acclaimed hit comedy Buyer & Cellar swept the Best of 2013 Theater lists including The New York Times, Associated Press, The Hollywood Reporter, New York Post, New York Daily News, NPR, Newsday, The Huffington Post, AM New York, The New York Observer, The Advocate, The Daily Beast, Entertainment Weekly, NBC New York, Playbill, Towleroad, Gay City News and Time Out New York.   Buyer & Cellarwon the Drama Desk Award, Lucille Lortel Award and Actors’ Equity Foundation’s Clarence Derwent Award.

Buyer & Cellar had its world premiere in April 2013 at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, where it received rave reviews and played a sold-out, extended run before transferring to New York’s Barrow Street Theatre where it opened June 24, 2013.  Buyer & Cellar is the longest-running comedy in New York now in its second smash year and currently stars television and Broadway leading man Barrett Foa (“NCIS: Los Angeles,” Avenue Q).
