The headline run includes sold-out shows in Chicago, IL (July 19 at the Civic Opera House and July 20 at the Aragon Ballroom), Los Angeles, CA (August 9 and 10 at the Greek Theatre) and Berkeley, CA (August 12 and 13 at the Greek Theatre). The band will also play many festivals – including Forecastle, New York City’s inaugural Panorama Festival, the Newport Folk Festival, the first-ever Vertex Festival in Colorado and Music Midtown in Atlanta, GA – and make its Farm Aid debut. See below for itinerary. Tickets are available HERE.
The band is touring in support of its RIAA-certified Gold album, Sound & Color (ATO Records), which won a GRAMMY Award for Best Alternative Music Album. The first single, “Don’t Wanna Fight,” took honors in the Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song categories, bringing the band’s GRAMMY tally to three. In addition, Sound & Color was named the Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical. The New York Times put Sound & Coloron its list of the Best Albums of 2015 and SPIN hailed it as “one of the most wonderfully unique rock records of the past five years.”
Alabama Shakes – comprising lead singer/guitarist Brittany Howard, guitarist Heath Fogg, bassist Zac Cockrell, drummer Steve Johnson, and touringkeyboard players Ben Tanner and Paul Horton – have also earned acclaim for their live performances.OnMilwaukee.com praised a recent show as “one of the best concerts you may see this year – at Summerfest or anywhere else for that matter.” “Brittany Howard commands a stage and holds an enormous crowd with a vice grip,” said The Denver Post’s Hey Reverb. The Columbus Dispatch hailed an outdoor set delivered in the rain as “an electrifying 90 minutes that frequently were explosive and always were passionate.” “Alabama Shakes dazzle,” observed the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
