Today, 19 year-old Nashville-based singer/songwriter, Mags Duval, released her first single, “Stay Lonely,” via Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist – PRESS HERE to listen. Co-produced by Grammy Award winner Luke Laird (Kacey Musgraves, Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton, Little Big Town), John Hill (Eminem, Shakira, Phantogram, P!nk, Jay Z), and Stint (Banks, AlunaGeorge, Gallant). Mags Duval’s music defies easy categorization – it’s a unique mix of pop, smart storytelling layered over hooks that nod to 90’s hip hop, and iconic 50’s girl-group harmonies – all from an empowered female perspective.
On working with Mags, co-producer Luke Laird said, “Every producer dreams of working with an artist like Mags. Her music has that hard to find quality of being hooky with depth. She is a prolific lyricist and incredible vocalist who writes songs for her generation, but they have a timeless, relatable quality. I get an education every time we work together.”
Mags Duval portrays her bold honesty through the medium of her lyrics in “Stay Lonely.” It’s not always pretty,” Mags says when asked about the roles we all play in relationships. You don’t always get to be the good guy.”
From the young age of nine years old, Mags began writing songs in her hometown of Clearwater, Florida. However, it wasn’t until Mags reached the age of 13, that she finally got into a recording studio. After years of meetings to co-write with other songwriters in town, Mags and her family relocated to Nashville in 2012, where she signed with music company, Creative Nation. Now, at just 19 years old, Mags is ready to introduce the world to her distinct voice and honest lyrics.
Mags recently introduced her single, “Pink Cadillac,” and performed the song at Mary Kay’s Leadership Conferences in New Orleans – PRESS HERE to listen. It was a natural collaboration as Mary Kay believes in empowering and encouraging women everywhere to use their own voice to change lives.
Stay tuned for more to come from Mags Duval.
